Homemade Playdough

This is one of our, fail proof activities! Our 2 year old loves cooking, so “cooking” playdough yields us hours of entertainment.

Ingredients:

1 C All Purpose Flour

1 C Water

2 tsp Cream of Tartar

⅓ C Salt

1 Tbsp vegetable oil

Food colouring

  1. Mix together all of the ingredients into a 2 qrt saucepan
  2. Cook over low/medium heat stirring continually.
  3. Continue to cook and stir until the mixture starts to thicken and begins to gather around the spoon.  Remove from heat and stir for another 1 minute.
  4. Remove the dough from the pot onto wax paper and allow to cool.

Store in an airtight container.

Homemade Fluffy Slime

Slime first entered our lives 6 months ago, and has yet to leave.  Our son could (and does) spend hours pushing, stretching and pulling this stuff! We have yet to make any colours other than blue, but I look forward to that day soon.

Ingredients:

 1 4oz bottle Elmers glue

2 Tbsp contact lense saline solution (we use equate)

1-2 C shaving cream

Food colouring

  1. Empty glue into your bowl and add food colouring as desired.  Mix well
  2. Add in contact lense solution and mix with a spoon until slime consistency is achieved.
  3. Fold in shaving cream and knead with your hands a few times to complete the product.

Store in an airtight container.

Homemade Bath Paint

Fun fact: bath paint was the only wait we could get our son to bath for a solid 2 months.

Easy clean activities that allow children to make a mess have our full buy in - enjoy!
